Dale Carnegie Course: Week 10

This is part of a series on the Dale Carnegie Public Speaking Course.

Week 10 brings us close to the end of course. We reported back on how we’d been applying the leadership principles from the previous week, to our small groups. We also gave a presentation designed to inspire others.

Our topic was to be something from our lives that had a strong emotional impact on us, something that would inspire other people in some way. We presented to the entire group, using everything we’d learned so far. Everyone was excellent, and it was great to see just how far people had come since the first class.

There were some very personal, emotive talks. It’s amazing how open you can become to a group of people over a period of only 3 months when you’re all in it together. If you wanted to send staff on a team building course, you could do worse than to book them all into a single session of the Dale Carnegie Course. Even if they learned nothing else, which is highly unlikely, they’d at least gain some insight into the other people in the group.

Next week we have our final presentation. We’re able to bring guests, so I’m going to see if I can get my other half to come along. It’s a presentation to the whole group, summing up what we’ve learned from the course and what the biggest benefit to us has been. I’ll have to have a think about it to figure out what I’m going to talk about.
