As I write this, I’m en route to Dell World 2012 in Austin, Texas. Right this moment, I’m ensconced in Air New Zealand’s international lounge, which is quite nice. Much nicer than United’s sorry excuse for a lounge in Melbourne. United would be better off partnering with another Star Alliance member in Melbourne as well.
That said, the service on United so far has been great. The short flight from Melbourne to Sydney was uneventful, and upstairs at the pointy end is quite comfy indeed. A boy could get used to this.
Of course, the real test will be the next leg, Melbourne to San Francisco. I’ve got another multi-hour layover in the airport there, so I get to find out what the local US-based lounges look like.
And that would be the announcement that boarding has started, so time to pack up and choof-off.
