Melbourne VMUG UserCon 2015

The Melbourne VMUG UserCon 2015 was held last week, and was a great success. The vibe on the day was wonderful, and aside from the usual niggles that always crop up, attendees and sponsors alike told me they enjoyed the day. Numbers were slightly down on last year, but it felt like a more energised conference.

We had great presentations from John Mark Troyer (@jtroyer), Chad Sakac (@sakacc), and Vaughn Stewart (@vStewed), and thanks to the wonders of modern technology, you can watch them even if you weren’t there in person!

You can watch them on YouTube, or right here:

Feedback and Content

We’d really like your feedback on the event so that we can improve things for next year, particularly around the content we provide.

It’s always tricky trying to predict what people are interested in hearing about, so we try for a good range of topics that seem to be of interest at the time. We’re limited by what people want to talk about in some ways, but we do try to encourage sponsors to present good technical depth about things attendees want to hear about, not just what they want to sell.

The committee is already thinking about ways we can improve matching content to what people want to see so that everyone gets a lot out of the day. If you have ideas, do let us know. Just email me at [email protected] and I’ll pass on your suggestions, or just tweet at us @mvmug.

Similarly, we’re planning content for our regular meetings for this year, so if there’s something you’d like presented, let us know.

We’re also keen to get members of the community up on stage to tell others about their experiences with virtualisation technology, so if you’d like to present (or know someone you think should) then let us know.

Here’s to a great start to the year.
