24 Hours in Every Day

I’ve finally worked out how to reclaim my time of an evening, and may well completely reschedule my days to keep it happening. It has a great deal to do with getting enough sleep. This morning, I overslept because I forgot to set my alarm. It was all of 30 minutes, so I made it to work only a little bit late, and yet I was more alert than I’ve been in a long time. I got plenty done during the day, worked late and then came home to a whole bunch of chores, that I’ve managed to do with enough time left over to write this.

It’s not really that hard, since all it requires is getting started. After getting home, I fed the cat and put on a load of washing, then did some grocery shopping. After getting home again, I put the shopping away, made dinner and hung out the washing before putting on another load and then sat down to eat while reading a bit in front of the TV. Then, I did all the dishes, put the dry laundry away (from last week, slacker that I am), and got out the iron(!) to iron my shirts. This is something that I very, very rarely do. I was even ironing while watching repeats of Sex and the City. It was at about this point that I realised I’ll make someone a lovely wife some day.

I just hope I can keep this kind of productivity going in the coming days and weeks. It’s certainly refreshing to realise just how much I can get done in a single day. Previously I’ve been getting home so utterly stuffed from a long work day that I’ve been unable to muster the enthusiasm to do much beyond having dinner and going to bed.

However, that time has arrived tonight as well. Tomorrow will no doubt be another day full of drama and intrigue, so I’d best get my beauty sleep to ensure that I’m adequately prepared. With a bit of luck, I might get a whole bunch of my own stuff done as well.
