I now have a 19 inch rack in my study. Hooray!My mate Bevan is getting his house renovated and no longer needed the rack, since he’s building a custom computer cupboard as part of the construction work. I’m also going to be hosting the corporate web/email/etc server that was at his place, so I decided to snaffle the rack for all the computer gear rather than continue to stack it on the floor.
It’s bloody heavy, but the room is now much quieter than it was before. I’ll see how it goes with the addition of the new gear in a couple of days, but overall I’m quite happy with it.
I can’t buy too much more gear, though, since it’s pretty full as is. Well, maybe a small RU rack-mountable switch or two.
